So I bought some nice white trousers from Banana Republic back in the spring and have yet to wear them because they are too long. I plan to get them hemmed soon along with another pair of pants that I've had since last winter. I know, I'm terrible!Anyway, my question is how many of you stick to the fashion rule of not wearing white after Labor Day? Is it an outdated rule? Does it apply only to certain whites or certain articles of clothing? Am I really going to have to wait until next spring to wear these pants?
That's a really good question. I often worry about this rule. I honestly have no idea what people do nowadays, but I usually stick to this one. I, however, would not judge you if you decided to wear them. I think I am just more afraid of what people think of me. Ha! That is a bummer though if you decide to wait.
ReplyDeleteEverything I've read has made it sound like the rules are pretty lax now.
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on the type and weight of the fabric. If the pants are a solid, medium to heavy weight fabric, then you're good. If they're linen or a thinner cotton, then they're more likely to look out of season.
Also, what you wear them with makes a difference. Avoid other springy colors and I'm sure you'll look lovely in winter white! :)
It depends on the fabric. If they're linen, I wouldn't wear them. If they're cotton and lined on the inside, you could probably get away with wearing them even in the winter-time. It really all depends on how "thick" the fabric is, the cut, etc.
